Colorado State Racks Up 26 Top-20 All-Time Marks Between West Coast Relays and Stanford Invite
CLOVIS, Calif. / PALO ALTO, Calif. – No fooling around for the Rams on the west coast as the Colorado State track and field program amassed 26 top-20 all-time school marks between two meets led by Lauren Offerman and Annabel Stafford's school records in the 5,000-meter and 10,000-meter races, respectively.
Â
Majority of the Rams were in Clovis, Calif., at the West Coast Relays where 18 of the top marks were obtained. However, a handful of distance Rams traveled over to Palo Alto, Calif. for the Stanford Invitational.
Â
Ironically at both meets, the women's 5,000-meter caused the most noise. Offerman, in Palo Alto, captured the school record with a time of 15:57.21, which bested the previous mark by about 15 seconds. In the same race, Ashlyn Hillyard improved her time to 14th all-time at CSU, however after the 5K at the West Coast Relays, she dropped to 17th. Sarah Carter won the event at the WCRs with a time of 16:08.95 to land right behind Offerman in school history. Anna Petr and Lauren Neugeboren placed third and fifth, respectively, in the race with times that put them at fourth and 15th all-time. Petr also notched the eight-best time in CSU history in the 1500.
Â
After Offerman's record, Stafford captured the 10,000 record in the Rams' final race of the week. She crossed at 33:25.33, beating the previous CSU top mark by 22 seconds. Lily Tomasula-Martin improved her personal-best time but didn't gain any ground on the all-time list staying in fifth.
Â
In all, 13 of the 23 top-20 marks fell inside the top 10. Noble top-5 marks came from Celyn Stermer in the pole vault, jumping a 13'3.5'' for No. 2 all-time, and two No. 5 all-time marks from Janyah Jasper (100m) and Dawson Besst (3000mS).
Â
Seven Rams won events including Carter (5000), Gabi McDonald (Discus), Jacob Brueckman (1500), Ryan Birkmeier (800m), Dawson Besst (3000mS), Andrew Doctor (110H), and Allam Bushara (triple jump).
