Colorado State put together one of the best rounds in school history and moved up to finish fifth at the 2022 Chattanooga Classic Tuesday. The three-day, 54-hole event, hosted by the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, was played at Council Fire Golf Club (Par 72 – 6,234 yards) in Chattanooga, Tenn.
In a field has 16 of the 20 teams ranked in Golfstat's top 125, the Rams shot the low round of the final 18 with a 5-under 283. It was one of just three under-par rounds on the day and five in the event as well as the second lowest team round of the tournament, as the squad moved up two spots to finish fifth in the field at 20-over 884. The team's 5-under 283 is also a season low and ties for the fifth lowest 18-hole score ever. UTSA took home the team title at 5-over 869, defeating North Florida by one shot as UNF finished at 6-over 870. Central Arkansas was third at 11-over 875, with Yale in fourth at 16-over 880.
"It was an all-around great tournament from top to bottom of the lineup for us," head coach Laura Cilek said. "We played very well on a demanding golf course. This group works hard every day and is committed to the process. It is so fun to see their hard work pay off!"
The Rams are led by freshman Lacey Uchida in a tie for 17th at 4-over 220 following a final round 1-under 71, her sixth round at par or better this year. Junior Andrea Bergsdottir and freshman Pemika Arphamongkol tied for 26th at 6-over 222. Bergsdottir posted a 5-under 67 in the final round with six birdies to just one bogey on the day, as the 67 is a team season best, a career low for Bergsdottir and ties for the third-lowest single round in program history. Sophomore Sofia Torres was next in a tie for 43rd at 9-over 225, while junior Gabby Minier also went under-par in the final 18, shooting a 1-under 71 to move up to a tie for 55th at 13-over 229.
