Smith Named Second Team All-Mountain West

The sophomore outfielder earned her first conference award of her career
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State softball outfielder Hailey Smith was named to the All-Mountain West second team the league announced on Wednesday. The sophomore is the lone Ram named to the team as she earned her first conference award of her career.

With the upcoming series against Boise State, Smith is expected to have started in all 46 games for Colorado State in right field. In the dish she leads the team with her .358 batting average and .540 slugging mark. She also leads the team in RBI with 38 and 15 doubles. Her 49 hits are third on the squad, including a team-high eight sac flys. So far this season she has 13 multiple hit games, including a four-hit game against Montana on Feb. 20.

In the field, she's tallied 71 putouts and six assists, while recording just one error for a .987 fielding percentage. She also has come in to cover first bases when the Rams are in a defensive shift with five infielders.

Colorado State will finish its regular season this week, hosting Boise State for a three-game series starting on Thursday at 4:00 p.m., MT at Ram Field.
