Molly Gates comes to Ram Country after two seasons at North Dakota State

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Head softball coach Jen Fisher is excited to announce the addition of Molly Gates, a junior outfielder from Bremerton, Wash., on Monday.

"We are excited to welcome Molly into our team," said Fisher. "We believe she will be an excellent addition and contributor to our goal of being in the NCAA postseason. Molly is a veteran player, with plenty of high-level DI experience, as well as championship level club experience. We expect her enthusiasm for the game and her teammates, her athleticism and her tools at the plate and in the outfield, to be a great addition to our squad."

Prior to coming to Fort Collins, Gates spent the past two season playing outfield at North Dakota State. While with the Bison, Gates played in 65 games, starting 60 and holding a .275 career batting average, including a .307 mark in 2022. As a sophomore she started 48 games in left field and held a .958 fielding percentage. While at the plate she finished third on the team with 50 hits, a team-high three triples and was 7-for-8 in bases swiped.

During her prep years at Olympic HS she was an all-state performer at shortstop, hit .770 with 15 home runs, scored 51 runs and 37 RBI to earn 2019 Olympic League MVP and honorable mention all-state. She also earned first team all-state, all-league and all-Westbound in 2018.
