CSU returns home for matchup with Southeast Missouri
FORT COLLINS, Colo.- The wait is over as Colorado State (2-1) is set for its home opener against Southeast Missouri (2-2).
ÂColorado State is off to a 2-1 start after the 3-match road trip to start the season. Now they open their slate of home matches with Sunday's matchup with the Redhawks in what will be the Rams' annual State Pride match.Â
ÂIn their previous match with South Dakota, CSU played their best offensive game to date as they put up 15 total shots and netted three goals in eight minutes. The Rams have had a balanced attack in their first three matchups with goals from five different players. Kaitlyn Abrams is one of three players averaging a point per game along with Liv Layton and Izzy Wildermuth.Â
"We challenged our group this year to get out of their comfort zones and step up," said head coach Keeley Hagen, "there were some big shoes to fill from the previous class. Each day we talk about getting better and pushing each other. Part of that is taking risks and not being afraid to make mistakes. Everyone has an important role on the team whether they play or not. As long as we are working towards getting better each session and encouraging our teammates, we believe everyone can contribute towards our team's success."
Abrams and Ali Yoshida tallied goals in the opening victory, with Layton, Wildermuth and Alyse Evers connecting in the win over South Dakota. For Wildermuth and Evers, it was their first career goal. Abrams now has five as a Ram, Layton three and Yoshida two.

Sunday's matchup with the Redhawks is the first of three matches at home before the Rams hit the road for four straight.
