The teams each had near game winners but came up empty.
KANSAS CITY - Though both teams had late scoring opportunities, Colorado State (3-3-2) concluded non-conference play on Sunday at Kansas City, playing to a 90-minute scoreless draw.
The Rams dominated the offensive attack, tallying five shots on goal on 13 shot attempts to just two and six, respectively, for the Roos. None, however, found the back of the net.
Colorado State's best scoring chance of the day came off a free kick service from Izzy Wildermuth into the box. A header from Taylor Bee was knocked away quickly by UMKC keeper Maxkenzie Caldwell, and the subsuquent return shot went high.Â
The 3-3-2 record is an improvement on last season's non-conference record that saw the Rams, then in their first season under head coach Keeley Hagen, open the campaign 1-3-3. All three ties went to through the two extra periods which the NCAA removed from regular season play prior to the start of the 2022 campaign.
Next Up: Colorado State will stay on the road to begin Mountain West conference play, heading to San Diego State (2-2-4) on Thursday (8 p.m. MT/MW Network) and New Mexico (2-2-3) on Sunday (Noon/MW Network).
