Thurman Records Double-Double in Big Road Win

Colorado State kept Boise State scoreless for the final 4:46 of the game
BOISE, Idaho – Colorado State finished the game on a 7-0 run, while keeping Boise State scoreless for the final 4:46 as the Rams picked up a 71-50 win on Thursday night in ExtraMile Arena. Destiny Thurman scored 20 points and pulled down 11 boards for her fourth 20-plus point game of the season and first double-double in the Green and Gold.
The win was the ninth victory of the season for the Rams where they outscored their opponent by 20-or-more points.
McKenna Hofschild added 20 points, her eighth of the season and 20th of her career. She extended her double-figure scoring streak to 33-consecutive games.
Cailyn Crocker added to the offensive output with 16 points, which half of those game from the charity stripe after shooting 8-for-9 at the line. CSU handled the paint for the whole 40 minutes, outscoring the Broncos 38-18 and on the boards 40-38. Cali Clark was a force, pulling down six rebounds, including a pair of offense boards.
Colorado State took the ball into the lane most of the night, shooting just 27 percent from behind the arc on 4-of-15. Thurman led the Rams with a pair of threes, both coming in the second half. While in the lane, CSU drew the fouls and shot 13-of-17 from the line. The Rams forced the Broncos into 13 turnovers which they turned into 15 points.
CSU took control early in the game, going on an 11-0 run to lead 13-5 with 4:09. The Rams shot just 33 percent in the first 10 minutes but got the line making 7-of-8. The second quarter the Rams build a double-digit lead after a 5-0 run, but the Broncos cut it down to eight at the break 34-26. Colorado State was cold for the last half of the quarter, going nearly 4:30 without a made basket while the clock is running.
After halftime, the Rams put together a 6-0 run early over 45 seconds to build their biggest lead of the game so far at 40-28. Colorado State tried to keep the Broncos at arm's length, but BSU stormed back within five after shooting 57 percent (4-for-7) from behind the arc in the third quarter.
Colorado State again started the fourth quarter building a 6-0 run to lead by double digits. CSU kept its lead and extended it as Boise State made its last basket of the game with 4:46 left to play and the Rams went on a 7-0 run to finish the game.
The Rams will be idle this weekend before return to action on Monday against San Diego State to start a three-game homestand. CSU will play on Thursday and Saturday at Moby Arena.
