Colorado State will travel to Boulder Friday and Saturday to continue its indoor season
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – After nearly a month off from competition, the Colorado State Track and Field team will make the short trip to Boulder this weekend to compete at the Potts Invitational, hosted by Colorado both Friday and Saturday.
Â
The two-day meet will take place at the Indoor Practice Facility at CU and will be split up between field events happening Friday starting at noon and track events taking place Saturday starting at 11 a.m.
Â
Highlighting the Friday field events for the Rams includes freshman Jo-Anna Pinnock who's first-place mark of 12.31 meters in the triple jump at the Air Force Holiday Open in December currently sits second in the Mountain West and the NCAA Mountain Region. Two more athletes to watch are Sam Mrky and Celyn Stermer who both finished second in the pole vault at the Air Force Holiday Open. Mrky's mark of 4.90 meters sits sixth in the Mountain Region and Stermer's 3.80-meter mark is good for third in the region.
Â
The Rams will also boast a large travel party of throwers heading down to Boulder as 19 different Rams will compete in the shot put event, with a majority of them also competing in the weight throw. Last time out, Gabby McDonald and Mya Lesnar ran the women's shot put for the Rams as they finished first and second with throws of 15.44 meters and 15.00 meters respectively. Lesnar also placed second in the weight throw with McDonald following close behind in fourth.
Â
On the men's side, junior Mariano Kis will compete for the Rams in the weight throw as he finished third at the Air Force Holiday Open with a throw of 18.80 meters. Jackson Morris will highlight Colorado State in the shot put as his top mark of the season of 16.76 meters ranks fourth overall in the NCAA Mountain Region.
Â
Saturday will bring track events into the picture as Jahzara Davis headlines Colorado State in the 60-meter hurdles. The sophomore finished second overall her last time out with a time of 8.62, good for fourth in the region.
Â
Day two's running events will also act as the season debut for Colorado State's distance runners. While most distance athletes were coming fresh off of cross country season in December, 26 Rams will compete in their first meet of the Track and Field season either in the mile run or 3,000-meter run with Lars Mitchell and Anna Petr competing in both.
