Colorado State earned its first win at UNLV since 2017
LAS VEGAS – Clutch and Isaiah Stevens are synonymous with each other. The senior guard hit multiple 3s to lead Colorado State to its first win against UNLV in Las Vegas since 2017, 82-81 in overtime.
Â
Trailing by four with five seconds left he hit his first of many big 3s to cut the lead to one. The heroics took over after that as he received an Isaiah Rivera pass over halfcourt, put up a heave to tie the game, banked in, and headed to overtime!
Â
The Rams trailed once again in the extra period as the Rebels built a four-point lead within the first minute. Colorado State chipped away at the deficit before it was once again Stevens' time in the final 30 seconds. He knocked down a three with 21 seconds left, cutting the deficit to one. UNLV hit one of its two free throws setting up the final big shot.
Â
Great ball movement led to a wide-open Stevens who jabbed at his defender to get the room he needed to let a corner three fly and splash! His big plays weren't over just yet as he forced a turnover on the ensuing inbounds pass that sealed the victory.
Â
Stevens concluded his historic night with 33 points, nine assists and eight rebounds.
Â
Game Notes
- With nine assists Stevens is 13 away from breaking the program record.
