Rams Sweep Nevada on the Road

Colorado State offense dominates Wolf Pack
RENO, Nev. – The Colorado State volleyball team moved to 6-4 in the Mountain West after sweeping the Nevada Wolf Pack on the road Saturday afternoon, 3-0.

Colorado State had one of its best offensive games of the season Saturday afternoon in Reno as the Rams hit at a .474 team efficiency with each individual Ram that recorded a kill hitting above at least .260. The Rams took down the Wolf Pack by set scores of 25-17, 25-7 and 25-14.

All 14 Rams who traveled Saturday saw the court in Reno with redshirt-junior Malaya Jones leading the way for Colorado State on offense with 11 kills in 16 attempts for a .667 hitting efficiency. Jones also added eight digs, two service aces and two block assists.

Middle blocker Naeemah Weathers, who currently ranks second in the conference in individual hitting percentage, hit at a perfect rate against Nevada, recording five kills on five attempts.

Fifth-year senior Annie Sullivan and senior Kennedy Stanford each added nine kills to Colorado State's offensive production while middle blocker Karina Leber added eight.

Senior setter Emery Herman dished out 35 assists to eight different Rams at a .594 assist percentage Saturday afternoon acting as the main distributor for the Rams' offense.

In the first set, the Rams took an early 5-0 lead thanks to a strong service run by defensive specialist Anna Porter to start the match. Colorado State didn't surrender the lead through the entire first set as the Rams completed set one on a 7-2 run to take a one set advantage. Defensive specialist Ruby Kayser recorded two of her four service aces in the first set alone.

The second set was pure dominance from Colorado State, claiming a 2-0 lead with a second score of 25-7. The longest consecutive streak in the second frame was a 12-0 service run by Herman that kept Nevada out of system allowing Colorado State to capitalize on Wolf Pack errors. Herman added two service aces of her own within the 12-point run.

While the Colorado State offense was dominant all afternoon, the Rams' defense held Nevada to a team hitting percentage of .106 on the day with six total blocks and 32 total team digs.

The offense continued to roll in set three with Colorado State hitting at a .778 efficiency with 15 kills and four team service aces to claim a 25-14 third set and match win.

Colorado State remains in the No. 4 spot in the conference heading into a three-game home stand as the Rams will host Utah State Thursday night, Boise State Saturday afternoon and Wyoming on Halloween night.
