Rams Make Road Trip To Greeley Tuesday

Colorado State men’s basketball hits the road for the first time this season

FORT COLLINS – Colorado State men's basketball will make its first road trip of the 2023-24 season on Tuesday. It will be a short one just down the road to Greeley to face Northern Colorado inside Bank of Colorado Arena at 6 pm.

Opening Tip
- Colorado State improved to 2-0 with an impressive 105-77 win over Wright State on Friday night.
- Head coach Niko Medved is in his sixth year leading Colorado State. He is 94-64 as the Rams' head coach. With six more wins he will become the fifth coach in program history to reach the 100 wins mark.
- Isaiah Stevens returns for his final year of eligibility and the nation is taking notice of the guard. Stevens was named the Mountain West Preseason Player of the Year and one of 20 players named to the Bob Cousy Preseason Watch List. He recorded the second straight double-double to open the 2023-24 season with 22 points and 14 assists against Wright State. The 14 assists set the program's record for a single game.
- Stevens is leading the nation averaging 12.0 assists through the first week of the season. He became the Mountain West's career leader in assists against Wright State passing Wyoming's Hunter Meldonado.
- Newcomer Joel Scott extended his streak to 49 straight games reaching double figures scoring with his 17 points against Wright State. He finished a rebound shy of a double-double.
- Nique Clifford had a strong second game in the Green & Gold with a career-high 19 points and rebound shy of a double-double.
- Colorado State shared the ball well in the win with 37 assists on 42 made baskets. The 37 assists set a program record for a game. It is the most assists in a game involving two Division I teams since 2019.
- Joining Stevens, Scott and Clifford in double-figures scoring was Patrick Cartier (17) and Joe Palmer (10).
- CSU leads the Mountain West in assist-turnover ratio (2.95), assists per game (28.0), fast break points per game (24.5), field goal percentage (58.1%), free throw percentage (86.5%) and scoring (93.0).
- Tuesday's trip is Colorado State's first trip to Greeley since 2015. - This is the third straight year the programs have met with each winning one game. UNC defeated CSU last year inside Moby Arena 88-83.
- Former Ram Dorian Green is an assistant coach for Northern Colorado.

Scouting the Bears
Head coach Steve Smiley has his team at 2-0 to start the season with home wins over Colorado College and Northern New Mexico. Tuesday's game is the Bears first against a Division I opponent this season.

UNC has four players averaging double figures on the year led by sophomore big Brock Wisne (16.0). Loyola Chicago transfer Saint Thomas is averaging almost a double-double with 14.5 points and 9.5 rebounds.

What's Ahead
Colorado State returns home for another Friday night match up inside Moby Arena. The Rams play host to the Roos of Kansas City at 7 pm.
