Rams Complete Mines Alumni Classic On Top

GOLDEN, Colo. – The Colorado State track and field team completed the Mines Alumni Classic with two Rams breaking school records and seven first-place finishes.

Sophomore Tyler Colwell tied the school record for men's indoor 60-meter dash with a time of 6.63 seconds. Before the weekend, Colwell was sitting at eighth in the top 20 with a time of 6.78. This 6.63 second record is shared by John Woods who accomplished the same time in 2005.

On the first day of the Mines Alumni Classic meet, Mya Lesnar broke the school record for indoor women's shot put with a distance of 18.50m. Lesnar finished the weekend with two first places finishes, one in shot put and the other in weight throw with a mark of 21.11 meters. Michaela Hawkins trailed closely in both events with two second-place results.

Cole Nordman made his mark in the first position with a time of 8.03 in the men's 60m hurdles on day two. He was closely followed by teammates, Carsen Bruns, who had a time of 8.12, and Drew Thompson who had a 9.17-second finish.

Along with Colwell, Lesnar and Nordman, Colorado State had two more Rams rank at the top of their event over the weekend. Kyle Bigley took home first in men's shot put with a mark of 18.22m. Sierra Habermann took the lead in women's high jump with a height of 1.64m.
