Rams Gear Up to Take on Colorado Springs

Colorado State will send track and field athletes to two different indoor meets

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Everything is in place for the women's and men's track and field teams to participate in two different meets over the weekend in Colorado Springs. 32 Rams will participate in the Air Force Holiday Open Friday afternoon and 13 Rams will compete in the UCCS Pre Holiday Invite over Friday and Saturday.  
 
What you need to know:
  • The Air Force Holiday Open will take place in the Cadet Fieldhouse at the U.S. Air Force Academy. All events will start Friday at 1 p.m. with women's weight throw and men's pole vault at 2 p.m.
  • Ram fans can stay informed by following live results here and find a full schedule of events here for the Air Force Holiday Open.
  • The Rams are sending their multis to the UCCS Pre Holiday Invite and Multi which is hosted by the University of Colorado - Colorado Springs. Events will take place over the span of two days. Friday's multi events are scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m. with the heptathlon 60m dash. Saturday's events will pick up at 10 a.m. continuing with the heptathlon.

  • Colorado State will take a month long holiday break after this weekend resuming thier indoor season in January.
 
Meet Notes:
  • Five Rams are coming off stellar Mountain West performances at the Mines Alumni Classic. Junior, Mya Lesnar was awarded the Mountain West Women's Field Athlete of the Week after breaking the school record for women's shot put with a mark of 18.50m. Her performance puts her first in the nation. She also placed first in women's weight throw with a distance of 21.11m. Lesnar was also named the Waterpik Student-Athlete of the Week.
  • Women's Freshman of the Week was awarded to Kajsa Borrman after appearing in her first indoor meet. Men's Track Athlete of the Week was given to sophomore Tyler Colwell after he tied the school record for men's 60-meter dash with a time of 6.63 seconds.
  • Sophomore Ismael Dembele was designated the Men's Field Athlete of the Week after placing second in long jump with a mark of 7.37m. Men's Freshman of the Week was given to Kyle Bigley after his first-place finish in shot put with a distance of 18.22m.
  • Five different Rams broke their personal records over the weekend. Carsen Bruns broke his own record in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.12 seconds and a second-place podium spot. In the same event and third place, Drew Thompson broke his record with 9.17 seconds. 
  • Abigail Groleau ran 7.64 seconds in the 60-meter dash to put her at the 15th position in the top-20. Jo-Anna Pinnock jumped 6.04m in the long jump, positioning her fifth in the top-20. With another top-20 appearance, Michael Hawkins moved to 11th in shot put with a distance of 15.74m.
