CSU is unable to overcome mistakes against Top 25 ranked San Diego State
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Turnovers and fouls were too much to overcome for Colorado State Tuesday night as they fell to No. 22/20 San Diego State 77-58. The Rams turned the ball over 16 times and committed 18 fouls leading to 23 free throw attempts.
SDSU converted 19 of them. Compared to CSU going 7-of-9 from the charity stripe.
The duo of Isaiah Stevens and John Tonje led the way offensively combining for 33 of CSU's points. Tonje took over late in the first half scoring eight of the team's final 10 points of it.
SDSU finished the half on a 6-0 run to grow its lead to double figures holding CSU scoreless for the final 2:55.
The Aztecs put the game away with a 9-0 run early in the second half pushing the lead to over 20 points.
Game Notes
- Stevens is now the second leading scorer in program history with 1,697 points. He scored 15 on the night.
- John Tonje led the team with 18 points.
- Freshman Taviontae Jackson led the team for the second straight game rebounding with seven rebounds on the night.
- San Diego State scored 15 points on 16 CSU turnovers.
- Both benches played well as CSU's scored 19 points, while San Diego State's had 35.
