Sofia Torres shot a career-best 67 Tuesday
GULF SHORES, Ala. – Sofia Torres had herself a day on Tuesday during the final round of the Bama Beach Bash. The junior shot a career-best 5-under, 67 to help CSU claim second place. It is the third time this year CSU has finished in the top 3.
The Rams entered the day tied for sixth and seven strokes out of second place, but quickly made up that ground. The team shot a 1-over, 289 for the day, the third-best round of any team.
Torres's day got off to a good start as she birdied the opening 325-yard par 4. She went on to place two more birdies on her scorecard making the turn at 3-under. Her consistent play continued on the back nine with a birdie on the 14th and 17th hole to reach 5-under. Torres had nothing worse than par on her scorecard. The big round pushed her to a fourth place finish of 6-over, 222.
Teammate Andrea Bergsdottir finished a stroke ahead of Torres with a tournament total of 221. She closed out the tournament with a 3-over, 75 to claim third place.
Torres picked up her third top 5 finish of the season while Bergsdottir her second.
All five Rams finished in the top 40. Lacey Uchida claimed a tie for 23rd while Panchalika and Pemika Arphamongkol tied for 40th.
CSU has one more tune-up next month before the Mountain West Championship when they travel to the Chattanooga Classic on April 2-4.
