Dush and Lennon join her on All-Mountain West team
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – As has been the norm in Mai-Ly Tran's two-year tenure as head coach, the announcement of the Mountain West All-Conference women's tennis team brings about another first in program history.
Â
Radka Buzkova was named All-Mountain West in both doubles and singles, the first Ram in program history to earn the dual distinction in consecutive seasons. She is joined on the team by her doubles partner, Emily Dush, and Zara Lennon (singles). It is the third time in program history Colorado State has had a pair of singles players earn all-conference honors. The announcement comes on the eve of the Mountain West Championships, with the Rams' entry into the tournament coming on Thursday thanks to a first-round bye.
Â
Buzkova, a senior from Bohutin, Czech Republic, has posted a 24-9 record at singles this year, going 5-4 in conference play. All of her victories have come in the top three spots, sporting an 8-4 mark at No. 1. Her 24 victories rank her fourth all-time in a single season. At doubles, she and Dush, a graduate student out of Chula Vista, Calif., have posted an 8-10 mark on the season, all at the No. 1 spot. It is the fifth consecutive year the Rams have had a doubles team named all-conference.
Â
Lennon, a senior from Grand Bay, Mauritius, has posted a 19-7 record this season in singles, including a 5-3 record in conference play. Four of her victories have clinched 4-3 team wins for the Rams this season.
Â
No. 71 Colorado State opens play in the conference tournament Thursday as the No. 5 seed, facing No. 4 Air Force at 11 a.m. (MT) at the Darling Tennis Center in Las Vegas, Calif.
