Colorado State Multi’s Finish Day One at Stanislaus State

Johnson and Thompson lead the way for the Rams
TURLOCK, Calif. – A small group of multi athletes a part of the Colorado State Track and Field team made the trip to Stanislaus State to take part in their first full multi of the outdoor season Thursday afternoon. Three Rams completed four events as part of the women's heptathlon with four Rams completing five events within the men's decathlon.
Sharde Johnson leads the way for the Rams in the heptathlon as the senior sits in second place after day one with 2,967 points. Johnson, an addition to this year's multi group after transferring in as a Ram ahead of the 2022-23 season, is looking to complete her first collegiate heptathlon.
Cierra Gonzalez and Tatum Bailey round out the Rams participating in the heptathlon with both athletes recording personal best times in the 100-meter hurdles Thursday afternoon. Gonzalez currently sits in seventh with 2,545 points while Bailey ranks tenth after day one with 2,441 points.
For the men, reigning Mountain West Indoor Heptathlon Champion Drew Thompson leads the way for the Rams in the decathlon. After recording a personal best time in the 400-meter run Thursday afternoon, Thompson currently sits third in the competition with 3,607 points.
Elijah Scott, Mateo Munoz and Cameron Collins currently sit sixth, eighth and ninth respectively in the decathlon with Scott recording a personal best time in the 400-meter while Collins threw a personal best mark of 11.98 meters in the shot put.
All seven athletes will compete again tomorrow as the heptathletes have three more events to finish and the decathletes have five more events to complete. The heptathlon will resume at 12 p.m. Friday with the decathlon following close behind with a 12:30 p.m. start time.
