Teams hosts Messick Invite to end September
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Coming off another strong dual campaign, Colorado State's women's tennis team has set the fall tournament slate to prepare for another strong Mountain West run in the spring.
Â
Head coach Mai-Ly Tran, entering her third season, will send her team down the road to open play in the Bedford Cup, hosted by the Air Force Academy, Sept. 14-17. The Rams will remain in state for their next action, hosting the Jon Messick Invitational at the CSU Tennis Complex from Sept. 29-Oct. 1
Â
It is possible some of the Rams will skip the home event to take part in the ITA All-American Championships in Cary, N.C., from Sept. 30-Oct. 8. Last season, four Rams played in the prestigious field.
Â
The ITA will again host the next event for Colorado State, with the ITA Mountain Regionals held Oct. 18-22, this year moving to Salt Lake City, Utah. The fall concludes with a trip to the San Diego Fall Classic #2, Nov. 3-5.
Â
The program will announce the spring dual schedule later in the season.
Â
The Rams are coming off a 16-8 season, establishing a program record for dual wins in a campaign. Included in the total as a program-record seven consecutive dual victories. Six players return, including Radka Buzkova, who was an All-Mountain West selection in both singles and doubles for a second consecutive season. All six returners won at least 15 singles matches. Buzkova and Sarka Richterova will be chasing some program top-10 accomplishments, as Buzkova needs six singles and eight doubles wins to do so, while Richterova is six doubles wins shy of the career list.
