Colorado State aims to make program history on Thursday
FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Colorado State looks to extend its winning streak this week against its final two non-conference matchups of the season when they host Utah Tech on Thursday and Utah on Sunday.Â
ÂThe Rams are coming off another two-win week on the road with victories over Montana and Idaho State. The Rams scored in both matches including twice on Sunday putting them at nine goals in six matches. They have scored in every match this season. In 2022, the Rams scored only eight goals in their eight non-conference matchups.
Â"Our goal each week is to improve in our process," said head coach Keeley Hagen, "we are proud of the intentionality of this group, how they are leading themselves and each other and we will continue to build on that."Â
ÂColorado State will take on both the Utes and the Trailblazers for the second time in program history. The Rams traveled to St. George last season for the first time and came out with a 2-1 victory. The squad followed up the win with a match with Utah in Salt Lake City that resulted in a 3-0 loss.Â
ÂKeeley Hagen's squad will look to set a new program record for consecutive wins on Thursday. Currently the Rams hold a five match winning streak tying the mark set in 2021, Hagen's first season at CSU. Colorado State also surpassed their win total from a season ago with their win on Sunday.Â
ÂJunior goalkeeper Shayna Ross is coming off a week in which she was named Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week. She has played every minute for the Rams so far this season and has allowed just two goals on 55 total shots. Sunday's goal for Idaho State snapped what was a four-match shutout streak for the Rams. It was the first goal allowed by Ross in 419 minutes of game time.Â
ÂThe Rams have five players that have scored a goal this season with both Liv Stutzman and Mia Massey finding the back of the net for the first time as Rams. Nine separate players have registered a point this season with Olivia Fout leading the way with eight points.
ÂThe Rams will kick-off Thursday at 4 p.m., at the soccer practice field against the Trailblazers before taking on the Utes at 1 p.m., on Sunday.   Â
