What You Need to Know
  • Starting on the road, but staying in the mountain time zone, Thursday's game against Boise State will mark the start of a more consistent schedule for the Rams who played 11 games over four weeks to start the season. Colorado State will play primarily on Thursdays and Saturdays for the rest of the season, with two Tuesday matches also taking place.
  • This weekend's western road trip acts as only the second travel trip for the Rams this season.
  • The Rams will open their Mountain West season on the road before returning back to Moby Arena for week two of the conference slate to host San Diego State and UNLV next week.

Scouting Mountain West Opening Weekend
  • The Broncos bring a 3-6 record into week one of Mountain West play boasting wins over Idaho State and South Dakota State and losses to Oregon State, Arizona State and Loyola Marymount.
  • Last season, the Rams only played the Broncos once and the match marked just the second loss in program history to Boise State and the first loss at home in the forty-year opponent history between the two teams.
  • Utah State, an NCAA tournament team from last year after the Aggies won the Mountain West Tournament Championship on the Moby Arena court, finished its non-conference schedule 7-4 with wins over Utah, SMU and Loyola Marymount and losses to No. 4 Nebraska and TCU.
  • Last season, Colorado State played the Aggies on the road and left Logan with a 3-1 victory. Playing last season's match in the larger capacity Dee Glen Smith Spectrum arena compared to the Wayne Estes Center where the Rams will play Saturday, Colorado State can still expect a loud and hostile environment on the road in Logan.

Series vs. Broncos: 21-2
Away vs. Broncos: 9-1

Series vs. Aggies: 34-15
Away vs. Aggies: 14-6

Match Notes
  • The Rams finished their non-conference schedule going 1-1 against Colorado in the annual home-and-home series with the Buffs last week. Colorado State reverse swept the Buffs in Boulder Thursday night before falling in five sets at Moby Arena one night later on Friday.
  • Redshirt junior Malaya Jones led the Rams' offense with 44 kills on the weekend averaging 4.40 kills per set and hitting at a .395 hitting efficiency. Jones sits tenth in the Mountain West in total kills with 148.
  • The Rams are currently ranked third in the conference in team hitting percentage, attacking at a .279 efficiency with senior middle blocker Naeemah Weathers leading the way with a .426 percentage. Weathers ranks fourth in the Mountain West individually and hit at a .567 percentage for 20 kills in two games against Colorado.
  • Senior Emery Herman recorded a career high 57 assists against Colorado Friday night as the setter had over 50 assists in both five-set matches versus the Buffs, totaling 109 assists on the weekend. Herman ranks second in total assists in the conference with 464 already this season.
  • Through its non-conference slate of home games, Colorado State averaged 4,304 fans in attendance for each game at Moby Arena. As a program that consistently ranks in the top 15 of attendance nationally, the Rams will look to continue to do their part in growing the sport of volleyball through the Mountain West season.
