Colorado State to host Nevada and UNLV
FORT COLLINS - Colorado State (5-2-1) begins its conference schedule this week when the Rams host Nevada (2-3-4) on Thursday (4 p.m.) and UNLV (1-4-2) on Sunday (1 p.m.). It will be both teams' first visit to Fort Collins since 2021.
The Rams are coming off a week where they suffered their first losses of the season, 3-2 to Utah Tech on Thursday and 1-0 to Utah on Sunday. Sunday's defeat was the first match of the season the Rams didn't score.Â
The squad turns its attention to Mountain West foes for the remainder of the season, starting with the Wolf Pack on Thursday. The Rams fell to Nevada 2-0 when the two teams met in Reno in 2022. The loss snapped a five-match winning streak for the Rams in meetings with the Wolf Pack. Colorado State holds a 4-0 home-record against Nevada.Â
Sunday's matchup with the Rebels will be the 10th meeting between the two. The Rams are 2-6-1 in the series but have not lost to UNLV since 2018 (2-0-1).Â
Junior goalkeeper Shayna Ross is coming off of a performance against Utah where she notched a career high in saves with five. Last Thursday's match with Utah Tech was the Rams first time giving up more than one goal in 2023. Ross joins Kaitlin Abrams, Avery Vander Ven and Kenady Leighton as the only Rams to play in every minute this season. Â
Offensively, Colorado State is receiving its production from sophomore forward Olivia Fout. Fout scored twice in the loss to Utah Tech, tallying her fifth and sixth goals of the season. She now has 13 points on the season.Â
The Rams have outshot their opponents 126 to 79 in 2023, resulting in them outscoring opposing teams 11-6.
