Rams Wrap Up Day One in Nebraska

Lesnar and Hawkins break meet record in women’s weight throw
LINCOLN, Neb. – The Colorado State track and field team finishes out the first meet in Nebraska with 26 podium placements.Â

Standout athlete Cole Nordman sees the podium for the second week in a row. Nordman placed first in the men's 60-meter dash with a time of 6.83 seconds. With 8.06 seconds, he placed third in the men's 60-meter hurdles. In the Colorado State record book, Nordman continues to sit at the No.7 spot in the 60-meter dash and No.3 in 60-meter hurdles.Â

The women's team took over the pole vault and weight throw podium. Maria Kimpson took first in women's pole vault with a height of 3.85 meters. She was followed by teammates Sydney Phillips and Olivia Bollenbacher who both secured marks of 3.45 meters.Â

Mya Lesnar led the Rams in women's weight throw with a distance of 20.34 meters. She was followed by Michaela Hawkins who achieved a mark of 19.29 meters. Kajsa Borrman followed in suit with 18.41 meters. Both Lesnar and Hawkins broke the Prairie Wolf Invite meet record of 19.13 meters with their scores. Along with the meet record, Lesnar also broke the Fieldhouse record of 20.19 meters.

Michaela Hawkins also placed first in women's shot put with a mark of 15.00 meters. Behind her in third place was Klaire Kovatch with a distance of 13.23 meters.

Other notable athletes include Brooklyn Ewert who ran the women's 800-meter dash in 2:19.20 minutes. In men's shot put, Kyle Bigley led with a mark of 16.94 meters.Â
