Colorado State continues Mountain West action this week, playing at Fresno State on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m., MT. The Rams will return home for a weekend game on Saturday, hosting New Mexico at 1:00 p.m., in Moby Arena.
 
What If...
A win on Saturday would move Colorado State to 10-3 overall and 4-2 on the road. The Rams would also improve to 20-14 overall against the Bulldogs and push their winning streak to four games. It would also snap CSU's three game-losing streak.
 
Recapping Last Week
The Rams started 2024 suffering a home loss to UNLV on Saturday, 83-78. McKenna Hofschild recorded her seven double-double of the season in the defeat with 34 points and 10 assists. She has tallied a double-double in the last four consecutive games.
 
Series History
Colorado State and Fresno State will meet for the 34th time in program history on Wednesday. The Rams lead the overall series 19-14 and are 9-7 while playing in the Save Mart Center. CSU has won the last three games in the series and four of the last five, including the last two in Fresno.
 
Golden State Resident
Colorado State will visit California a total of five times this season, playing in all the major areas. The Rams have visited San Francisco, Long Beach and San Diego already this season. CSU will also visit Fresno and San Jose later this season.
 
Leaving No Doubt
Colorado State holds a +13 scoring margin - No. 63 in the nation. The Rams have had six games where they defeated their opponent by 20+ points, including five games in Moby. CSU holds a +20.3 scoring margin in Moby Arena.
 
Third-Quarter Explosion
Colorado State has been effective coming out of halftime, averaging 5.5 more points than its opponents in the third quarter. The frame is the largest point differential with the highest being 17 against Alabama A&M on Nov. 9. The Rams have been outscored just three times in the third quarter - at UTEP, at LBSU and vs. UNLV.
 
Hand In The Face
Colorado State made defense a priority this season and that is why they are the No. 40 defense in the country keeping opponents to a 36.2 mark shooting.
 
Dish It
McKenna Hofschild leads the country with 8.9 assists per game, while also No. 2 in total dimes with 116. She is averaging a whole assist more than the next player (Rori Harmon, Texas).
 
Making Starts
McKenna Hofschild has started 98 consecutive games that she's appeared in - every game at Colorado State. During those 98 games, she is averaging 18.2 points and 6.8 assists per game in 35.4 minutes per game.
 
Good Company
As one of the top point guards in the country, McKenna Hofschild is around some good company. In the nation, she is one of two players to average 20+ points and seven assists so far this season, joining Caitlin Clark from Iowa.
 
Hitting Threes
Last time Colorado State didn't make a 3-point basket was 12 seasons ago against Bowling Green (0-6) on Dec. 31, 2011. Since, the Rams have a three in every game, carrying a 370-game streak with a deep basket. Since Ryun Williams has been Head Coach, the Rams have hit a 3-point basket in every game.
 
Dime Leader
McKenna Hofschild put her name on the top of the all-time assist list at Colorado State. In the game against South Dakota Mines the guard dished out 14 assists in the win and now holds the title of assist leader with 668 and counting.
 
League History
With another 10 assists against UNLV last weekend, McKenna Hofschild continues to climb the all-time Mountain West assist record. Currently she is third in league history and is 32 away from claiming the title.
 
Preseason Player of the Year
McKenna Hofschild was named the Mountain West Preseason Player of the Year ahead of the 2023-24 campaign. She became the third player in program history and fourth overall to earn the regular title last season.
 
Preseason All-Mountain West Team
In addition to being named the Mountain West preseason Player of the Year, Hofschild also was named to the five-person preseason All-Mountain West team. Transfer graduate Jackie Carman also was named the preseason Newcomer of the Year after a successful four-year career at Wofford.
 
Protect The Rock
Colorado State doesn't turn the ball over, which is why it leads the nation in fewest turnovers per game with 8.5. The Rams have forked the ball over 110 times, the fewest in the country. The next team in turnovers/game averages 10.1 (Villanova).
 
Ratio'd
Colorado State takes care of the ball, while also creating assists. The Rams are No. 1 in the nation in assist/turnover ratio with a 1.89 mark. McKenna Hofschild is No. 5 in the country with a 3.87 mark, having 30 turnovers to 116 assists in 13 games. Last season she finished the year at No. 2 in the nation with a 3.42 ratio.
 
Make It A Double
McKenna Hofschild hasn't wasted any time recording double-marks. The guard has tallied seven double-doubles already this season, including five in the last seven games. She has 15 for her career after a 34 points/10 assists performance against UNLV.
