Colorado State splits week facing New Mexico on the road and Air Force at home
FORT COLLINS – The Colorado State volleyball team enters its fifth week of conference play, set to face New Mexico on the road Thursday and Air Force Saturday at Moby Arena in a crucial week to stay at the top of the Mountain West.

What You Need to Know
- The Rams are coming off an away week in conference after falling to San Diego State in five sets Thursday before sweeping UNLV Saturday, defeating the Rebels in Vegas for the first time since 2019.
- Going into week five, the Rams continue to lead the Mountain West with a conference record of 6-2 and an overall record of 10-8. They are closely followed by Fresno State, also at 6-2.
- Colorado State will travel to New Mexico to face the Lobos before returning home to take on Air Force during homecoming weekend in Fort Collins. This will be the only time this season the Rams will face each other these teams as starting next week, Colorado State will start round two of conference play facing UNLV and San Diego State again at home.Â
Scouting the Lobos and Falcons
- New Mexico hosts Colorado State after five consecutive losses in conference play, with its most recent win against Air Force October 1. The Lobos took a notable victory over San Diego State during week one of conference play in a five-set match.Â
- The Lobos have looked to junior outside hitter Lauryn Payne to lead their offense to success. Payne has 240 kills in conference play good for fourth in the Mountain West as well as 254.5 points to lead the team. She has been set up for success by sophomore setter Madeleine Miller who is currently ranked fifth in the Mountain West with 292 assists and an average of 8.85 per set. The Lobos have also been relying on their defense to hold down matches with redshirt sophomore middle blocker Liepa Lavickyte ranking fourth in the Mountain West in blocks with 36 during conference matches and graduate student libero Falanika Danielson ranking third in the Mountain West for digs, recording 140 during conference play thus far.
- Air Force is traveling to Fort Collins this week after being swept by Fresno State and losing in four sets to San Jose State, their most recent win comes against UNLV September 28.Â
- Air Force has looked to players across the roster to contribute to its success. Freshman middle blocker Grace Fiaseu is ranked ninth in the Mountain West with a hitting percentage of .336 and eighth in blocks recording 30 on the season, largely in part to freshman setter Mia Lloyd who is ranked eighth in the Mountain West in assists, recording 165 overall and averaging 5.5 assists per set. The defensive side of the roster has been held down by junior libero Jordan Suan who is ranked seventh in the Mountain West with 105 recorded digs, averaging 3.5 per set.Â
Match Notes
- Redshirt senior Malaya Jones maintains the highest kill percentage in the Mountain West while ranking 16th in the NCAA with 325 kills total this season. Jones also has the most points recorded in the Mountain West while being ranked 18th in the NCAA with 361.5 total points. During last Saturday's match against UNLV, Jones led the team with 21 kills and contributed two assists, two blocks, and one service ace. She also recorded her 1,000th career kill last Thursday versus San Diego State.
- Fifth-year senior Emery Herman recorded 89 assists across Thursday and Saturday's games as she continues to lead the Mountain West in assists per set at 10.67 and 352 total assists in the conference. In Thursday's game against San Diego State, Herman recorded 51 assists, a season-high in conference play. She is currently ranked 31st in the NCAA in assists per set and continues to be a strong asset to the success of the Ram's offense.Â
- Fifth-year senior middle blocker Naeemah Weathers continues to move up in the NCAA rankings in hitting percentage, currently sitting sixth in the NCAA and leading the Mountain West during conference play with an overall percentage of .451 contributing 170 total kills.Â
- Fifth-year senior outside hitter Kennedy Stanford continues to be a strong asset to the Rams offense, recording her season-high in kills with 14 against San Diego State. She also produced 10 digs in Thursday's game, showing her versatility in the front and back row throughout the match with a double-double.
