CSU prepares for two more week of regular season play
FORT COLLINS – The pursuit has changed, and yet remained the same.
Colorado State's women's soccer team has clinched a berth in the Mountain West Tournament and now sets the target for what would be a first-ever conference championship with a pair of matches this weekend. The Rams, 10-3-3 overall, 6-0-2 in conference and tied with Boise State at the top, begins the week with a home match against New Mexico before hitting the road to face San Diego State.
New Mexico's match takes place on Thursday at 7 p.m., and then the Rams take a trip for Sunday's match against San Diego State at 1 p.m. Both matches will be broadcast on the Mountain West Network.
Colorado State is coming off a two-win week in Nevada, topping UNLV 2-1 and Nevada 1-0. Having secured a spot in the tournament, hosted by San Diego State Nov. 3-9, the team's remaining three contests will determine seeding, with the top two earning a first-round bye in the six-team field.
New Mexico:
- New Mexico stands sixth in the Mountain West standings at 7-4-4 overall and 3-3-2 in conference.
- The Lobos lead the series 8-2-1.
- The team is 2-0-2 in its past four matches.
- Devey Presley leads New Mexico this season with a total of seven goals, three assists, and 17 points.
SDSU:
- San Diego State stands fifth in the Mountain West standings at 6-7-3 overall and 4-2-2 in conference.
- The Aztecs lead the series 8-1-2.
- SDSU is 2-0-2 in its past four coming off two successive wins.
- Denise Castro leads SDSU this season with a total of eight goals, one assist, and 17 points. She is tied for the league lead in goals.
Quick Kicks:
- Olivia Fout's goal against UNLV was her 13th as a Ram, but her first of the 2024 season, becoming the 11th different CSU player to score this season.
- Avery Vander Ven had the game-winning goal against Nevada, her third tally of the season.
- Mia Casey recorded her seventh assist of the season bringing her to second in a single season for assists. Her 25 career points ties her for sixth all time.
What's Ahead:
Colorado State will host its final regular-season match against Wyoming Oct. 31 at 4 p.m. for its Border War, before entering championship play.
