NEED TO KNOW
  • New-Look Rams: Colorado State returns just two starts from a season ago in Hannah Ronsiek and Sanna Ström, in addition to Marta Leimane who started 11 games. With seven letterwinners lost, head coach Ryun Williams and his staff hit the recruiting trail to bring in eight newcomers for the 2024-25 campaign, including a pair of Division I transfers Emma Ronsiek (Creighton) and Hannah Simental (Northern Colorado).
  • Rams Rack Up Preseason Awards: Colorado State was well represented when the Mountain West announced its preseason awards ahead of media day in Las Vegas on Oct. 16. Emma Ronsiek was named the Preseason Co-Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year, while guard Kloe Froebe was tabbed the league's Preseason Freshman of the Year. This had CSU represented in each of the major preseason awards.
  • Elite Addition: The addition of two-time All-BIG EAST First Teamer Emma Ronsiek was exciting as it was, but that excitement reached a new level when the newest Ram was named to the watch list for the 2025 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award in early October. A dynamic forward, Ronsiek averaged 16.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.2 blocks per game during her senior campaign and has a career scoring average of 14.1 points.
  • Leimane Looks to Recapture Magic: Junior guard Marta Leimane caught fire for CSU down the stretch of the 2023-24 season by scoring double-figures in each of the last 10 games of the campaign, including four performances of 20-or-more points. The Latvian averaged 8.2 points across the entire season, and bumped that number up to 9.9 when facing conference opponents. Leimane started 11 games in her junior season, and figures to play a steady role in the Rams' starting five entering the season.
  • Ronsiek Reunion: Colorado State junior Hannah Ronsiek will have the opportunity to do something she has not been able to in nearly five years: Play alongside her sister Emma. The elder of the two, Emma transferred to Colorado State for her final season after playing four years at Creighton, where she earned All-BIG EAST First Team Honors twice.
WHAT TO WATCH
  • Protecting the Rock: No team has done a better job taking care of the basketball over the last two seasons than Colorado State. The Rams led the country in turnovers per game in both 2022-23 and 2023-24, and were the only team in the country to average less than 10 turnovers per game in each season.
