RAM TALK
  • The Week That Was: The Rams hit the road for the first time this season to face BYU in Provo. Despite taking a lead into halftime, the Rams were ultimately defeated 69-55 after a third-quarter surge from the Cougars turned the tide. Colorado State returned to Moby Arena and responded with an emphatic 85-28 victory over Columbia College, a game in which four Rams hit double-figures.
  • Protect The Rock: The Rams do a lot of good things, but one of their secrets to success is actually something they DON'T do: Turn the ball over. The Rams have led the nation in fewest turnovers per game in each of the last two seasons, coughing it up only 9.1 times per game in 2023-24. Despite the new-look roster, that trait seems to have been passed down to this year's squad as the Rams are giving up an average of just 7.3 turnovers through two games, again leading the nation. Colorado State has had 10 or fewer turnovers in 11-straight games, dating back to last season. No other D-I team has an active streak of more than four-straight games while the only longer such streak in MW history was a 13-gamer by CSU spanning 2021-22/2022-23.
  • Keepin' Things Clean: Colorado State has been one of the cleanest teams in the nation over the past 10 seasons, ranking fifth nationally in fouls per game since the 2014-15 season (13.7). The Green and Gold are keeping pace with history thus far in the 2024-25 season, committing just 12.3 fouls through two games which is ninth in the nation.
  • Freshman of the Week: Colorado State's Kloe Froebe was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Week (Nov. 18) in just her second week of action with the Green and Gold. Froebe started each of the Rams' two games, leading the team in scoring with 14 points against BYU while tying Emma Ronsiek for the team lead with 15 against Columbia College later in the week. It's been a solid start to a young career as Froebe is averaging 7.3 points and 3.0 rebounds while shooting 40.7% from the floor.
  • Sisters Are Serving: Sisters Emma and Hannah Ronsiek have lived up to the hype of their reunion thus far as they have been the Rams' top two scorers this season, averaging 17.3 and 12.5 points per game, respectively. The duo were virtually unstoppable in Colorado State's win over Oregon State as Emma (26) and Hannah (24) poured in 50 of CSU's 65 points, shooting a combined 10-20 from behind the arc.
  • New-Look Rams: Colorado State returns just two starters from last season in Hannah Ronsiek and Sanna Ström, in addition to Marta Leimane who started 11 games. With seven letterwinners lost, head coach Ryun Williams and his staff hit the recruiting trail to bring in eight newcomers for the 2024-25 season, including a pair of Division I transfers Emma Ronsiek (Creighton) and Hannah Simental (Northern Colorado).
SCOUTING REPORT
  • The Southern Jaguars: The Jaguars are still searching for their first win of the season after dropping each of their first five games, but it is worth noting that each of those contests has been against Power 4 opponents. Southern is led by senior guard Aniya Gourdine, who has scored in double-figures each game and is averaging 14.8 points per game.
  • The Northern Arizona Lumberjacks: The Lumberjacks have scored 70-or-more in three of their four games this season, including a 101-point performance against Fort Lewis. Northern Arizona is off to a 3-1 start and has already faced two Mountain West squads this year, winning at New Mexico before losing on the road at UNLV.
