Colorado State men’s basketball to compete in the Acrisure Invitational

FORT COLLINS – Colorado State men's basketball will head west to Palm Desert, California to compete in the Acrisure Invitational on Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday. The tournament tips-off Thanksgiving Day when CSU and Washington battle at 4:30 p.m. MT on TruTV.
 
Opening Tip
- Colorado State fell in overtime to UC Riverside on Friday 77-75 after the Highlanders hit a banked-in half-court buzzer beater to force the extra five minutes.
- Jaylen Crocker-Johnson and Kyle Jorgensen each had career-high nights scoring with 21 and 13 points, respectively.
- Crocker-Johnson made a career-best three 3-pointers and tied for the team lead with seven rebounds.
- Jorgensen also mad points and e a career-high two 3-pointers.
- Nique Clifford has le or tied for the team lead in rebounding all five games. He had seven on Friday.
- Clifford is averaging 18.8 points and 10.0 rebounds per game to lead Colorado State.
- He was selected to the preseason All-Mountain West team after earning third team honors last season.
- Freshman Kyle Jorgensen picked up Mountain West Freshman of the Week honors after averaging 9.0 points and 6.0 rebounds in his first two games. He scored seven straight points for the Rams in overtime to lift them past TSU.
- Jorgensen earned his first start against Denver and is averaging 8.6 points and 3.4 rebounds.
- Playing in his first game in 333 days and have only played 14 minutes of game action in 667 days, Keshawn Williams showed off his athletic ability scoring 14 points off the bench for CSU in the season opener.
- This is the second straight season Colorado State and Washington have faced each other. The Rams beat the Huskies in another neutral site game last year 86-81 in Las Vegas.
- Head coach Niko Medved is in his seventh year leading Colorado State. He is 120-76 as the Rams' head coach. His next win will be the 200th of his career and tie him for the second most in program history with Stew Morrill (1992-98) and Larry Eustachy (2012-18).
- He became the fifth coach in program history to reach 100 wins in Fort Collins last year.
- Medved is the only coach in program history to win 20-plus games four times.
- The Rams welcome 10 new faces to the program in 2024-25. Six are transfers, and four are true freshmen.
- The program's all-time leading scorer and assists leader, Isaiah Stevens has moved on to professional basketball after exhausting his eligibility. He is currently with the Sioux Falls Skyforce, the G League affiliate of the Miami Heat.
- Stevens helped the Heat to a 2024 Summer League Championship.
- CSU has two players currently in the NBA or G League with David Roddy (Atlanta Hawks) and Isaiah Stevens (Miami Heat/Sioux Falls Skyforce).
 
Scouting the Huskies
The Huskies are led by a familiar face to the Rams in Danny Sprinkle. After spending a year at Utah State and leading the Aggies to a Mountain West regular season title, Sprinkle has made his way to Seattle.
 
He brought last year's Mountain West Player of the Year with him in Great Osobor. This season, Osobor is averaging 13.4 points and 11.2 rebounds. Only Tyler Harris is scoring more than him for the Huskies with 14.2 points per game.
 
Washington's lone loss of the year came against another Mountain West foe in Nevada.
 
What's Ahead
Colorado State will face either Santa Clara or TCU on Black Friday. With a win on Thursday CSU will play at 2:30 p.m. MT, a loss would be a noon tip-off. All games will air on TruTV.
