RAM TALK
- New-Look Rams: Colorado State returns just two starters from last season in Hannah Ronsiek and Sanna Ström, in addition to Marta Leimane who started 11 games. With seven letterwinners lost, head coach Ryun Williams and his staff hit the recruiting trail to bring in eight newcomers for the 2024-25 season, including a pair of Division I transfers Emma Ronsiek (Creighton) and Hannah Simental (Northern Colorado).
- Elite Addition: Already a two-time All-BIG EAST First Teamer in her career, transfer forward Emma Ronsiek has racked up a number of preseason awards ahead of her final season. Named to the watchlists for both the Katrina McClain Power Forward of the Year and Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year awards, the buzz of Ronsiek's arrival is at an all-time high. A dynamic forward, Ronsiek averaged 16.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.2 blocks per game during her senior campaign and has a career average of 14.1 points per game.
- Ronsiek Reunion: Colorado State junior Hannah Ronsiek will have the opportunity to do something she hasn't been able to in five years: Play alongside her sister Hannah. The elder of the two sisters, Emma transferred to Colorado State for her final season after playing four years at Creighton.
- Leimane Looks to Recapture Magic: Junior guard Marta Leimane caught fire for CSU down the stretch of the 2023-24 season by scoring double-figures in eight of the last 10 games of the season, including four performances of 20-or-more points. The Latvian averaged 8.2 points across the entire season and bumped that number up to 9.9 against conference opponents. Leimane started 11 games last season and figures to play a steady role in the Rams' starting five entering the 2024-25 campaign.
- Fab Freshmen: Of Colorado State's five freshmen, Kloe Froebe and Brooke Carlson appear to be primed for significant roles this season. The duo combined for 21 of CSU's 25 bench points in the exhibition against Regis, with Froebe ranking second on the team in points (13) and rebounds (7).
- The Dons: San Francisco finished the 2023-24 regular season with a record of 14-15, winning 10 of its last 16 down the stretch. Despite earning the No. 4 seed in the West Coast Conference Tournament, the Dons were knocked out by Pacific in the quarterfinal round. USF was picked to finish sixth in the WCC preseason poll, but preseason all-conference first team selection Debora dos Santos (15.3 points, 10.6 rebounds in 2023-24) presents a matchup headache that can give any team fits.
- The Beavers: Just a few months removed from a magical run to the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament last March, Oregon State has a re-tooled roster that will present interesting matchups for the Rams. Led by bigs Kelsey Rees (6-foot-5) and Sela Heide (6-foot-7), the Beavers could look to utilize their size advantage against CSU, a team with just one player standing above 6-foot-2.
