SAN JOSE, Calif. – Defense set the tone early as Colorado State defeated San Jose State 72-50 to end the year 2024. The win moves the Rams to 8-6 on the year and 2-1 in Mountain West play.

CSU held SJSU to 29.5% shooting on the day, and only two made 3-pointers, their last two attempts.

Thanks to the strong defense, the Rams led 33-15 at the half. SJSU missed its first nine shots and closed the half by missing 13 straight. Meanwhile, CSU ended the half by making its last eight shots for a 14-0 run.

That drought extended until 16:53 left into the game when the Rams had pushed the lead to 20.

Nique Clifford picked up his seventh double-double of the year with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Rashaan Mbemba grabbed a career-high eight rebounds to go with the 12 points he scored. Jalen Lake returned to double figures scoring with 12 points as well.

What's Ahead
Colorado State has the weekend off before hosting a pair of games the following week inside Moby Arena. The first on Tuesday, January 7th against Fresno State at 7 p.m.

That following Saturday UNLV will visit CSU for State Pride Day at 2 p.m.
