Rams Set to Take on Mountain West Championships

Colorado State looks to secure another title at the 2024 Mountain West Indoor Track & Field Championships
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State men's and women's track and field teams will travel to Albuquerque, New Mexico, to compete in the 2024 Mountain West Indoor Track & Field Championships. Both the men's and women's team enter the weekend with a first place ranking in the conference as the women look to defend their 2023 Indoor title and the men look to improve on their second place finish a weekend ago.

- The Mountain West Championships will be held in New Mexico at the Albuquerque Convention Center. Events will kick off Thursday, Feb. 22 and wrap up on Saturday, Feb. 24.
- Thursday's events will start at 10 a.m. with the men's heptathlon, followed by the women's pentathlon at 11 a.m.
- Men's heptathlon will wrap up on Friday at 10 a.m. with the 60-meter dash and pole vault. Immediately following will be the trials and finals of the men's weight throw at 12:30 p.m. with the women's long jump trials and finals at 1 p.m.
- Saturday's events will start earlier at 9:30 a.m. with the men's high jump finals and the men's shot put trials and finals at 10.
- The top three finishers in each event will be given medals on the awards podium immediately following the results.

Meet Notes:
- Last year, the women secured the 2023 Mountain West Championship title with a score of 125.5 points, edging out San Diego State by only one point.
- Sophomore Tyler Colwell continues to lead the Mountain West in the men's 60-meter dash after tying the CSU record with a time of 6.65 seconds. Junior Cole Nordman sits at No. 4 in the Mountain West on this list as well with a time of 6.76. Other Rams on this list include Jack Cauble (No. 6), Paul Agbo (No.12), Carsen Bruns (No.13), and Kyle Dempsey (No.16).
- Colwell and Nordman both sit respectively at sixth and eighth in the men's 200-meter dash with times of 21.35 seconds and 21.47.
- Nordman takes fourth in the 60-meter hurdles with 7.83. Rams, PJ Robinson (No.8), Carsen Bruns (No.9), Drew Thompson (No.10), Dominic Gallelli (No.11), Jack Wetterling (No.17), and Mateo Munoz (No.18) also make up this list.
- Eight Rams make up the top-20 in the men's pole vault with junior Eldridge Harris occupying the third spot with 5.18 meters.
- Drew Thompson continues to lead the Mountain West in the men's heptathlon with 5,647 points.
- Other notable top-20 appearances in the men's events Mountain West include senior Tom Willems in the 400-meter dash with a time of 46.61 and senior Allam Bushara who sits second in the triple jump with a mark of 15.44 meters.
- Fourth-year Claire Hengesbaugh ran a 9:19.19 3000-meter dash at the Husky Classic which is good for second place in the Mountain West. She also sits at No.7 in the 5000 meters with 16:26.66.
- Quinn McConnel, Neya Jamison, Yasmin Austridge, and Anna Petr hold first place in the women's distance medley relay with a time of 11:13.88.
- Sophomore Tatum Bailey leads the women in the high jump with a mark of 1.77 meters. Also on this list is sophomore Sierra Haberman with a mark of 1.67m and freshman Lizzy Heumann with 1.65m.
- The top-three in the women's shot put is taken by Mya Lesnar with a mark of 19.07 meters, Gabi Morris with 17.44m, and Michaela Hawkins with 15.91m. Lesnar and Hawkins also sit at first and second in the weight throw with marks of 21.78m and 20.91m.
- Other notable women who occupy the top-20 in the Mountain West include Maria Kimpson who is first in pole vault with a mark of 4.13 meters. Junior Anna Petr sits in second place in the mile with a time of 4:35.02. She's followed by teammate Yasmin Austridge who is placed fourth with 4:41.80.
