Colorado State to send throwers Mya Lesnar and Gabi Morris to compete at the NCAA Championships in women’s shot put

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Two throwers from the Colorado State women's track and field team will compete in the NCAA Championships this weekend in Boston, Massachusetts. Mya Lesnar and Gabi Morris rank first and twelfth in the nation respectively in the women's shot put ahead of the indoor season finale.
 
What you need to know:
  • The 2024 NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships is hosted by Boston College and Massachusetts-Lowell and will take place March 8-9 in Boston, Massachusetts.
  • Ram fans can tune in at 3:45 p.m. Saturday mountain time to watch Lesnar and Morris compete in the women's shot put. 
  • The field of throwers in the women's shot put will consist of 16 athletes with the top eight finishers leaving with first-team All-American accolades and the next eight finishers leaving with second-team All-American honors.

Meet Notes:
  • Lesnar is currently first in the nation for the women's shot put. She sits at the top with a mark of 19.10 meters. Lesnar is the only woman in the NCAA this season to throw over 19 meters and she has accomplished this feat twice this season, throwing a mark of 19.10 meters at the Mountain West Championships last weekend and a mark of 19.07 meters at the Don Kirby Invitational earlier this month.
  • Also at the Mountain West Championships, Lesnar was awarded the accolade for the Most Outstanding Field Performer.
  • Morris ranks No.12 in the nation with a season best mark of 17.44 meters. She accomplished this mark at the Potts Invitational earlier this season in January.
  • Last year at the 2023 NCAA Indoor Championships, Morris placed 12th in shot put with a mark of 16.20 meters, earning her the honor of second team All-American.
  • This is Lesnar's first NCAA Indoor Championship appearance. She placed 17th in the women's shot put in the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Championships.
