Recapping Last Week
Colorado State finished the regular season last Tuesday, hosting Boise State and earning a 64-50 victory on Senior Night. CSU took the lead in the first quarter and took it the distance. Marta Leimane led all scorers with 21 points on 10-of-14 shooting. McKenna Hofschild added 19 points and six assists. BSU averaged over five blocks a game, but did not get a swat against the Rams.
Â
What If...
A win on Monday would move Colorado State to 20-10 overall and give the Rams their third-consecutive opening game win at the Mountain West Tournament. The win would also push CSU to the 20-win mark for the third-consecutive season and eighth time under Coach Williams.
Â
#5 Seed
Colorado State has been the #5 seed in the Mountain West Tournament one other time back in 2018. The Rams faced #4 Fresno State in the quarterfinals and earned a 71-55 victory.
Â
Tourney History
This will be just the second time Colorado State will enter the Mountain West Tournament as the #5 seed. The Rams are 21-22 all-time in the tournament and are 6-3 in the quarterfinals, winning five of their last six.
Â
Series History
Colorado State and Nevada will meet for the 25th time in program history in the quarterfinals of the Mountain West Tournament on Monday. The Rams lead the series 18-5 overall and have never faced the Wolf Pack on neutral floor. CSU suffered a road loss earlier this season before responding with a home victory to split the regular season. Four the five losses in the series have come since 2019, with three of them happening in Reno.
Â
Class Is In Session
Both contests against Nevada this season featured Education Day, both in Reno and in Fort Collins. The screaming kids helped both home teams in the series split in the regular season in favor of the home team. CSU suffered a loss in the first game in Reno before responding with a 54-51 home victory to finish the month of February on a three-game winning streak.
Â
Conference Dubs
Colorado State recorded 10 Mountain West victories for the 10th time since the league formed in 1999-2000. Under Coach Williams, the CSU has reached double-figure wins in eight of his 12 seasons - making the mark just twice prior.
