Rams Gear Up to Take on California

Colorado State to take on three separate meets over a three-day weekend

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State will send its distance runners and sprinters to participate in the Bryan Clay Invitational while throwers and jumpers are set to take on the Long Beach and Pacific Coast Invite.
 
What you need to know:
  • The Bryan Clay Invitational is hosted by Azusa Pacific University and will take place Thursday, Friday and Saturday this weekend. 
  • The Rams will start at 5:45 pm Thursday with the women's open steeplechase, followed by the men. Both men's and women's invite 10k will start later in the evening.
  • Friday will start at 8:00 am with the men's open 10k, followed by the women's and Saturday will kick off with sprint events at 11 a.m.
  • Ram fans can find results from the Bryan Clay Invitational here and can watch all of the events unfold here. A schedule of events can be found here.
  • The Pacific Coast Invitational is hosted by Long Beach State University and will take place only on Thursday at the Jack Rose Track. 
  • Thursday's events for throwers will start at 8:00 am with the men's hammer throw, followed by the women at 11. Also at 8 a.m. is the women's javelin, followed by the men. 
  • Events for jumpers start at 8:00 am with the women's and men's pole vault. Concluding the day with women's and men's triple jump at 4 p.m.

  • The Long Beach Invitational is also hosted by Long Beach State University and will also take place at Jack Rose Track starting Friday at 12 p.m. Saturday's field events will start at 10 a.m.

Meet Notes:
  • Taye Holker was named Mountain West Women's Field Athlete of the Week after her first-place performance at the Colorado Invitational in long jump with 6.50 meters. With this mark, she currently ranks eighth in the nation and first in the NCAA Mountain Region. She also placed first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.68 seconds. She achieved another career best and moved to No.9 in CSU's record book.
  • Also at the Colorado Invitational, Makayla Williams placed third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.20 seconds. In the 200-meter dash she finished first with 25.36 seconds. 
  • Timothy Johnson won the men's high jump with 2.01 meters. Teammate Hari Brogan also cleared 2.01 meters, good enough for second. 
  • Rams took over the top four in the men's triple jump. Jamison Taylor took first with 14.32 meters, followed by Rhys Travis with 13.96m, Tyler Benett (13.76m) and Luc Baker (13.60m). 
  • The women throwers also took over the top three in the discus and hammer throw. Michaela Hawkins placed first In discus with 59.13 meters and third in hammer throw with 59.38 meters. Second in discus goes to Klaire Kovatch who achieved a distance of 50.28 meters. Kajsa Borrman took third in discus with 45.81 meters and second in hammer with 59.99 meters. Mya Lesnar took home first in the hammer throw with 61.65 meters.
  • Other first-place placements from the Colorado Invitational include Jackson Morris in the men's javelin throw with 62.44 meters and Jo-Anna Pinnock in the women's triple jump with 12.92 meters.
