Rams Finish First Day in California

Colorado State throwers and jumpers show out in Long Beach
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Colorado State's men's and women's track and field teams took on the Bryan Clay and Pacific Coast Invite to mark a successful day one in California with Rams event groups all split up across the state.Â

At the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate Mya Lesnar led the Rams in the women's hammer throw with a third-place finish. She achieved a mark of 63.47 meters, just shy of her career best of 63.50 meters which she accomplished last outdoor season. Teammate Michaela Hawkins followed close behind in ninth place with a mark of 57.42 meters. Â

Hawkins also finished second in the women's discus throw with a mark of 60.63 meters followed close behind by teammate Klaire Kovatch who finished fifth 54.12 meters.Â

The reigning Mountain West Women's Field Athlete of the Week Taye Holker finished sixth in the women's long jump with a mark of 6.07 meters while teammate Jo-Anna Pinnock placed 24th with an outdoor career best of 5.79 meters.Â

The Rams' distance team competed in the 3000m steeplechase Thursday night at the Bryan Clay Invitational with Emily Chaston and Yasmin Austridge both running a time of 10:21.92 in the women's race and Sam Griffith running a 9:06.63 in the men's race.Â

The Rams will continue with the Bryan Clay Invite tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. with the men's open 10k. The Long Beach Invitational will begin tomorrow afternoon.
