Colorado State prepares to take on the Kit Mayer Classic

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State men's and women's track and field team will be taking on the Kit Mayer Classic in Golden, Colorado this Friday.
 
What you need to know:
  • The Kit Mayer Classic is hosted by the Colorado School of Mines and will take place at the Stermole Track in Golden, Colorado.
  • The meet will only take place on Friday, after moving to a one-day schedule to account for the anticipated weather on Saturday. 
  • Track events will start at 9 a.m. with the women's 10,000-meter run. The men will follow at 9:40 with the 5,000-meter run.
  • Field events will start at 10 a.m. with the women's hammer throw and long jump. The men will follow. 
 
Meet Notes:
  • Mya Lesnar is coming off a high from last weekend where she was awarded the Mountain West Women's Field Athlete of the Week for the third time this year. Lesnar now holds both school records for the women's indoor and outdoor shot put. She won the event at the Long Beach Invitational with a mark of 18.41 meters.
  • She was followed by Gabi Morris who achieved a distance of 16.54 meters. Morris also finished fourth in discus with a distance of 55.05 meters.
  • Quinn McConnell broke the women's 1500-meter run school record last week at the Bryan Clay Invite with a time of 4:20.07 seconds.
  • Yasmin Austridge also ran under the old-school record time and now sits at No.2 in Colorado State's record book with a finish of 4:21.20.
  • Jo-Anna Pinnock achieved a new career-best in the women's long jump where she achieved a distance of 6.02 meters. She also placed sixth in triple jump with 12.57 meters at the Long Beach Invite.
  • Cole Nordman placed ninth in the men's 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.36 seconds.
  • Chris Henry led the men's team in the 5000 run with a sixth-place finish and a time of 14:06.46. He shaved 12 seconds off his previous time, giving him a new career-best.
