Colorado State looks ahead to 2024 Mountain West Outdoor Track & Field Championships
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State men's and women's track and field teams will travel to Clovis, California, to compete in the 2024 Mountain West Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The women's team looks to defend their 2023 outdoor title while both the men's and women's teams are coming off first-place finishes from the 2024 Mountain West Indoor Championships.

What you need to know:
- The Mountain West Championships will be held in Clovis, California at the Veterans Memorial Stadium. Events will start on Thursday, May 9 and wrap up on Saturday May 11.Â
- The men's decathlon will kick off Thursday's events at 9:30 a.m. followed by the women's heptathlon at 9:50. Other events taking place on Thursday include men's and women's hammer throw, javelin, 10K and track preliminary rounds.
- Men's decathlon will start their final events Friday morning at 9:30 and the women's heptathlon will start at 10:20. Men's and women's long jump and shot put, more track preliminary rounds and women's pole vault, and men's high jump will take place throughout the day.Â
- Saturday will start at 1 p.m. with women's discus followed by triple jump at 3. Men's discus, pole vault, triple jump and the women's triple jump and high jump and track finals will run after 3:15.

Meet Notes:
- The women's team will be defending their title after finishing the weekend with 158.40 points, edging out the San Diego Aztecs by 15.20 points. The men's team finished second behind the Air Force Academy Falcons.
- Taye Holker leads the Mountain West conference in long jump with a mark of 6.50 meters which she accomplished at the CU Invitational. She currently sits at No.17 in the nation.Â
- Mya Lesnar leads the Mountain West conference in both shot put and hammer throw. She threw a distance of 18.41 meters in shot put at the Beach Invitational and 63.47 meters in hammer throw at the Pacific Coast Invitational. With her shot put mark she ranks fourth in the nation.
- Michaela Hawkins leads the Mountain West in discus with a mark of 61.24 meters which she accomplished at the Beach Invitational. With this mark she ranks fifth in the nation.
- In the men's high jump, Hari Brogan leads the Mountain West conference with a height of 2.08 meters which he accomplished at the Doug Max invitational.
- Sarah Carter is coming off a first-place finish in last year's outdoor championships in the 10,000-meter with a time of 34:09.94. Carter currently ranks second in the 5,000-meter (15:50.87) and 10,000-meter (33:31.25).
- Other notable athletes on the women's team that are ranked high in the Mountain West conference include Jo-Anna Pinnock who sits at No.3 in triple jump with a mark of 12.92 meters. Gabi Morris ranks No.2 in shot put with a mark of 17.58 meters. Klaire Kovatch sits at No.5 in discus with a mark of 54.12 meters. At No.3 sits Kajsa Borrman in hammer throw with a distance of 62.06 meters. Also at No.3 but in the heptathlon is Tereza Babicka with a score of 5,153.
- Athletes on the men's side who also rank high in the Mountain West conference include Tyler Colwell who ranks fourth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.28 seconds. Tom Willems sits at No.2 in the 400-meter dash with a time of 47.19 seconds. In third in the 800-meter dash sits Ryan Birkmeier with a time of 1:49.32. Cole Nordman ranks third in the 110-hurdles with 13.75 seconds. Tim Johnson sits at No.3 in high jump with a height of 2.05 meters. In pole vault, Sam Mrky ranks second with a heigh of 5.11 meters. Allam Bushara also ranks second by in triple jump with a distance of 15.60 meters. Kyle Bigley ranks third in shot put (18.26 meters) and fifth in discus (52.83 meters). Mariano Kis ranks fourth in shot put (17.51 meters) and third in discus (53.81 meters). Jackson Morris sits at No.2 in discus (54.81 meters) and No.3 in javelin (62.44).Â
