Rams Set Several Career Bests at Colorado Classic Day One

Women go 1-through-4 in the weight throw.
BOULDER – Colorado State track and field saw several career-best marks at day one of the Colorado Classic in Boulder on Friday.

The Rams put on a clinic in the weight throw on both the men's and women's side as the latter took each of the top four spots on the podium. Kajsa Borrman continues to impress as she threw a career-best 19.80-meters and collected her third victory in the event this season. Makayla Long (18.19) and Erin Brown (16.92) each posted career-bests, while Klaire Kovatch (16.86) rounded out the top four. On the men's side, Leo Ramos also set the top mark in his collegiate career (19.19) as he surpassed the 19-meter mark for the second-straight week.

Graduate senior Gabi Morris did her thing in the shot put, winning the event by over two meters with a throw of 17.48. Pole vault produced another Ram atop the podium as Eldridge Harris posted a season-best mark of 5.00. In women's pole vault, the reigning Mountain West Indoor event champion Maria Kimpson finished runner-up with a mark of 3.95.

Colorado State did the double in the long jump, winning the event on both the men's and women's side. Cierra Gonzalez tied for first on the women's side with a jump of 5.49, while Ismael Dembele collected his second long jump victory of the season with a mark of 7.21.

In the men's high jump, promising freshman Ndayiragije Shukurani led the way with a jump of 2.06 to win the event and improve upon his top collegiate mark. Rhys Travis finished right behind his fellow Ram, jumping 1.96 to tie for second in the event.

Pole vault produced another Ram atop the podium as Eldridge Harris posted a season-best mark of 5.00. On the women's side, the reigning Mountain West Indoor event champion Maria Kimpson finished runner-up with a mark of 3.95.
