RAM TALK
  • The Week That Was: Behind strong efforts from freshmen guards Kloe Froebe (18 points, 18 rebounds) and Brooke Carlson (15 points, 3 steals), Colorado State edged San Diego State, 62-58, for its first road victory against the Aztecs since 2018. However, CSU was outscored 26-10 in the first quarter of its Saturday matchup against New Mexico and ultimately fell 78-74 for just its second loss in Moby Arena this season.
  • Game Breaker: Emma Ronsiek has been one of the most well-rounded players in the country this season with her ability to impact the game in multiple ways. Ronsiek is one of only 11 players nationally to average 19.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists against Division I opponents this season, joining the likes of JuJu Watkins (Southern California), Hannah Hidalgo (Notre Dame) and Flau'Jae Johnson (LSU). According to HerHoopStats, Ronsiek's averages against DI opponents rank in the 98th-percentile or better for minutes (36.9), points (19.5), FGs (6.8) and 3FGs (2.6).
  • The Chase For 2K: Emma Ronsiek is chasing a significant career milestone as the forward is just 28 points away from reaching 2,000 in her career. The Creighton transfer scored 1,622 in four seasons with the Bluejays.
  • One of One: Kloe Froebe was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Week for the second time this season, thanks in large part to a dominant performance against San Diego State. The 5-foot-8 guard became the only Division I freshman in the country to score 18 points and grab 18 rebounds in a game, and is the only freshman guard to do so since 2019. Froebe averaged 12.5 points and 12.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals in two starts last week, playing an average of 33.0 minutes per game.
  • Make It Rain: Colorado State has been deadly from deep this season, converting 35.3% of their 3-point attempts which is second in the MW and top-45 nationally. The 3-pointer has been a large part of the Rams' offensive gameplan as they make an average of 8.4 shots from deep per game, which is tops in the league and 34th nationally. Emma Ronsiek, Hannah Ronsiek and Hannah Simental have been lighting it up from distance as they each shoot better than 36.0% from distance and are the top three on Colorado State's roster in regards to 3-pointers made. Emma Ronsiek's 46 3-pointers this season ranks 41st nationally and leads in the Mountain West.
  • 60's The Limit: Colorado State has been one of the top defensive teams in the Mountain West, holding opponents to just 36.2% shooting from the field (first in MW, 22nd nationally) and are holding teams to just 60.2 points per game (first in the MW). 60 has been the target number for the Rams defensively as 11 of their 13 wins this season have come when holding their opponents below that mark.
  • Protect The Rock: The Rams do a lot of good things, but one of their secrets to success is actually something they DON'T do: Turn the ball over. The Rams have led the nation in fewest turnovers per game in each of the last two seasons, coughing it up only 9.1 times per game in 2023-24. Despite the new-look roster, that trait has passed down to this year's squad as the Rams are giving up an average of just 9.7 turnovers, which is second nationally. The Green and Gold are one of just two teams in Division I to average less than 10 turnovers per game.

SCOUTING REPORT
  • The Boise State Broncos: Colorado State will be preparing to defend a trio of talented guards for Boise State as Natalie Pasco (14.9 ppg), Tatum Thompson (14.0 ppg) and Mya Hansen (13.4 ppg) are each averaging double-digit scoring in MW Play. Thompson was named the league's player of the week after averaging 18.0 points, 12.0 rebounds and 2.5 blocks to help Boise State beat Nevada and San Jose State
  • The Wyoming Cowgirls: Saturday's contest will be a matchup of the two players named Mountain West Co-Preseason Player of the Year in CSU's Emma Ronsiek and Wyoming's Allyson Fertig. Fertig is one of the top bigs in the nation, averaging 18.6 points and 9.8 rebounds this season. The Cowgirls are coming off a road game in which they lost to UNLV (15-4, 7-0 MW) by just one point.
