Colorado State track and field to compete at UCCS Invite

FORT COLLINS – Coming off a record-breaking week at the Colorado Classic, Colorado State track and field turns its attention to Colorado Springs for the UCCS invite. This single-day event is the sixth event of the season and marks the mid-point of an exciting indoor track and field season.

MEET INFORMATION
Date: Jan. 25, 2025
Location: Mountain Lion Fieldhouse – Colorado Springs, Colo.
Time: 11:30 a.m. MT

MEET NOTES
  • 39 track and field athletes will make their way to Colorado Springs to compete on Saturday, including 22 on the men's side and 17 on the women's. The roster primarily includes jumpers and multi athletes.
  • The Rams' Cole Nordman was named the Mountain West Men's Track Athlete of the Week on Tuesday, and for good reason. Nordman broke the Colorado State and MW record in the 60m hurdles with a time of 7.71, toppling a CSU mark that had stood since 1998. It was the second weekly award this season for Nordman, who earned the conference recognition for the first time back in December.
  • With a pair of first-place finishes in the long jump already under his belt, Ismael Dembele is set to compete in his fourth event of the young track season at the UCCS Invite. Dembele finished fifth in the long jump at the Mountain West Outdoor Championships last spring.
  • Heptathlete Mateo Munoz had a career day in Colorado Springs earlier this season, finishing seventh place and recording a career-best 5,167 points at the UCCS Invitational and Multi in December. Munoz's score is currently the 10th-best in program history.
  • Maria Kimpson returns to action after finishing first in the pole vault last week in Boulder. Kimpson has been a pole-vaulting force to this point in the season, recording two first-place finishes and one runner-up in her three competitions thus far.
  • Coming off a season where she finished second place in the high jump at the MW Outdoor Championships, Tatum Bailey will make her third start of the season on Saturday. Bailey has started well in the high jump, finishing first place in Colorado Springs in December and second place last week at the Colorado Classic.
