Pinnock improves upon program triple-jump record.
COLORADO SPRINGS – With Colorado State's indoor track season truly in full swing, the Rams traveled to the home of the Mountain Lions for a one-day event at the UCCS Invite. The Rams now have two more weekends of competition left before the Mountain West Indoor Championships.Â
Â
The highlight of the day came courtesy of Jo-Anna Pinnock in the women's triple jump. Already the program record holder in the event, Pinnock improved upon own career-best with a jump of 42-feet, 3.25-inches to further cement her name atop the CSU record book.
Â
In the men's high jump, Rhys Travis and Timothy Johnson each received a share of gold with a height of 6-9.25. In addition to the first-place finish, Travis set a personal best in his third competition of the season. On the women's side of the event, Tatum Bailey took home the top honors with a jump of 5-9.25.
Â
Ismael Dembele kept pace with his winning ways by finishing first in the triple jump with a mark of 49-10.25, the sixth-best jump in Ram history. Dembele's first place finish marks his third time standing on top of the podium this season.Â
Â
In the men's pole vault, Sam Mrky put together a career performance of 17-1 to become just the fourth Ram all-time to reach the 17-foot mark. Mrky's attempt saw him pass teammate Eldridge Harris for the third-best mark in program history.
Â
Kaylyn Heath put on a show in the 60-meter dash with a first-place finish and time of 7.44. It was the Louisiana Tech transfer's first time running the 60 as a member of the Green and Gold, as she positioned herself in a tie for seventh all time in the history of Colorado State track and field. Â
Â
Maria Kimpson notched a second-place finish in the women's pole vault with a mark of 12-10.25. Kimpson currently owns a share of the CSU record in the event and is looking to take sole possession this season. Another name in the record books, Cierra Gonzalez, took the top spot in the long jump for the first time this season. Â
Â
Colorado State doubles the action next week by competing at both the Colorado Classic and the New Mexico Team Open. Both events will run Friday Jan. 31st through Saturday Feb. 1st.Â
