From the Desk of John Weber -- Embracing Rivalry Weekend

10/24/2025 12:00:00 PM | General

There is nothing like a rivalry week to get the juices flowing, and Saturday allows us to double down on our longstanding Border War Games with our neighbors to the North.

Please start this Saturday at Moby Arena when our volleyball team, looking to defend its conference titles from a season ago, will start the day off right hosting the Cowgirls at noon. Then it's a short drive up to Laramie to enjoy the battle for the Bronze Boot, with our football team fully focused on keeping it where it belongs and currently resides – Fort Collins.

I'm excited about what I've seen at football practice this week and have seen that interim head coach Tyson Summers has our team completely focused on the task at hand for the all-important rivalry weekend. I've spent significant time with the team this week and I've been impressed with how the team has continued to work hard and improve with a focus on finishing this season with passion and success.[W1] [MB2]

You have filled Canvas Stadium twice this season, bringing energy to our program and campus. You will have two more chances to do so: on November 8th for the debut of Snow Days when we play UNLV on a White-Out Saturday in special uniforms, then again the day after Thanksgiving when we host Air Force and play for the Ram-Falcon Trophy – also beautifully on display in Canvas Stadium's Markley Hall of Champions.

Snow Days will be a fun and unique experience on our campus, highlighting all that makes our state great with a three-day celebration of our outdoor endeavors and our Ram Pride. Running from November 7-9, the event kicks off on Friday, November 7th and features an outdoor movie; "After The Snowfall" presented by Matchstick Productions. Saturday is a day of competition for the Rail Jam which will be constructed on the CSU Intramural field after which you can head into Canvas Stadium to cheer on our football team.  Sunday, your Rams women's basketball team hosts Long Beach State followed by your men's basketball team hosting Omaha.

This is an exciting time as our fall sports start winding down the clock and our winter teams are set to embark on their runs, giving all of Ram Country plenty of opportunities to show off continued great support for the Green and Gold.

Our soccer team once again is driving toward the Mountain West tournament for a third-consecutive season after tying San Diego State at home on Thursday, with a chance to strengthen their position Sunday against Nevada. Our cross country teams are primed for strong showings at their championships later this month. Edora Pool Ice Center is the place to be this afternoon as the Rams' swim and dive team hosts Colorado Mesa and Denver for their first home meet of the season (2 p.m. today).

Moby Madness continues in November when our men's and women's basketball teams tip off their campaigns with their season openers at home on back-to-back days. The men host Incarnate Word on November 3rd as the Ali Farokhmanesh era begins, followed the next night as Ryun Williams and our women's basketball team take the court against Weber State. Both teams enter the year full of promise and in search of top finishes in conference play.

Ram Country, I cannot overstate how meaningful and impactful your support continues to be for Rams Athletics and this great University.  Your support this fall has been exceptional, and I am  grateful for your relentless spirit.  Rams everywhere, near and far, are powerful when we are united, and your continued participation; however best for you, is extremely important.  We have much to be excited for in the coming weeks and months, and as always, I hope to see you all soon – and see you often!

Thank you and Go Rams!!
