Rams have bye week before returning home

LARAMIE, Wyo. – Looking for a spark against a heated rival amid a week of change didn't translate for Colorado State on Saturday night as the Rams fell in the Border War Game to the Cowboys at War Memorial Stadium, 28-0.

Both teams entered the night struggling on offense, each side changing their play caller. The Cowboys used a pair of Jackson Brousseau interceptions – his first on the season after going 113 attempts without one – to fuel two of their three touchdown drives in the opening half to jump out to a 21-0 lead.

Colorado State interim coach Tyson Summers turned to Grant Chestnut to call plays – the third different coach to do so this season – but the Rams never gained any footing, finishing the game with 305 yards of total offense after finishing the first half with just 61. The Rams made a late push to avoid the shutout, but a fumbled snap on fourth-and-4 at the Wyoming 5 ended the chance.

By the end of the night, Brousseau would throw a third interception, ending a second drive where the Rams drove down just outside the red zone in the third quarter. Darius Curry would replace him on the next drive and finished the game at quarterback.

Colorado State was able to slow down Wyoming's offense in the second half, but only after the Cowboys scored on their initial drive of the half, with Sam Scott breaking off a 37-yard run for the final points of the game. Wyoming started the game 4-of-6 on third down, but the Rams stopped their final five attempts.

The Rams will have their second bye of the season next week before hosting UNLV on Nov. 8 at Canvas Stadium.
