Colorado State looks to defend title in final Mountain West Championship

FORT COLLINS – The Colorado State Rams Volleyball team is set to compete in the Mountain West Championship Tournament, beginning with their semi-final match on Friday, November 28th at 5 p.m. Mountain Time. The tournament will be hosted by UNLV at the Pavilion in Las Vegas, Nevada. If the Rams win their semi-final match, they will advance to the Championship game on Saturday, November 29th at 3 p.m. Mountain Time.

The Rams, entering the tournament as the No. 2 seed, will face the winner of the quarterfinal match between No. 3 Wyoming Cowgirls and No. 6 San Diego State Aztecs which will take place Wednesday, November 26th. Other teams participating include the top-seeded Utah State Aggies, No. 4 seed Boise State Broncos, and No. 5 seed Grand Canyon Lopes.

This season, the Colorado State Rams have showcased impressive performances, finishing with a 20-8 overall record and a 14-4 record in conference play. Led by head coach Emily Kohan and standout athletes Eve Wilson, Halle Jameson, Erin Debiec, and Maria Brun, who were all named to the Mountain West All-Conference team Tuesday afternoon, the Rams will look to go back-to-back in tournament championships during their final season in the Mountain West before joining the PAC-12 conference next season.

The Rams boast a 1-1 season record over the No. 3 seed Wyoming Cowgirls and a 1-0 record over the No. 6 seed San Diego State Aztecs. The Rams will see one of these two teams in the semi-final round which will feature either a Border War rubber match, or a second matchup with the Aztecs after only facing off with them once this season.

On the other side of the bracket, the No. 1 seeded Utah State Aggies still remain undefeated in conference play and will face the winner of No. 4 Boise State and No. 5 Grand Canyon. The Rams total a combined record of 3-3 against the other side of the bracket going 0-2 against the Aggies, 1-1 against the Broncos and 2-0 against the Lopes.

For those unable to attend in person over the holiday week, all games will be streamed live on the Mountain West Network, with live stats available on StatBroadcast.
