CSU Scorches Nets in Win Over Shockers

Rechsteiner connects on seven 3-pointers in the win
PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas – A hot shooting first half helped Colorado State secure a 76-70 victory over Wichita State at the Battle 4 Atlantis. CSU's 76.0% holding off a second-half comeback attempt by the Shockers.

The Rams capitalized on their 3-point shooting, hitting 12 of 30 attempts from beyond the arc, to maintain their lead. Brandon Rechsteiner made seven of those 12 threes on his way to a career-high 21 points.

The tone was set right way with Carey Booth throwing down a dunk to open the game. Booth continued to be a key player, contributing 3-pointers and sparking fast-breaks, both scoring and assisting to help extend the lead.

CSU's offense became unstoppable over the final 13 minutes of the first half, making 15 straight field goal attempts at one point to grow the lead to 17 at halftime

WSU narrowed the gap in the second half, outscoring Colorado State 40-29. Boyd opened the scoring with a jumper at 19:44, closing the deficit to 32-47.

Colorado State maintained a lead, bolstered by Rechsteiner's two three-pointers, the second extending their advantage to 76-67 with 2:12 remaining. Despite a late surge by the Shockers, CSU's first half offensive display was enough to hold off Wichita State in the end.

- Kyle Jorgensen was a perfect 6-for-6 from the field on his way to a 16-point performance. He added a career-high-tying four assists for the second straight game as well.
- Carey Booth got the offense going once again on Thursday night scoring 14 points, 12 of them coming in the first half.
- Colorado State had 21 assists in the game, led by Jevin Muniz's six. Seven different Rams recorded at least one.
- Muniz added in eight points, six rebounds and a trio of steals in the win.
