Rams Prepare to Wrap up Fall Season in San Diego

Colorado State heads to SDSU Fall Classic
SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Colorado State women's tennis team will close out its fall season this weekend at the Aztec Tennis Complex in San Diego, competing in a three-day tournament hosted by San Diego State.

The Rams enter their final tournament of the fall season with excitement for the last chance to compete before the spring dual season. With a roster made up largely of freshmen and transfer athletes, the Rams have spent the semester growing together and figuring out how to play as a team. Coach Mai-Ly Tran said she's seen tremendous development from her team since their first competition of the year and looks forward to closing out the fall season.

"You feel the confidence growing — players are more comfortable, more intentional, and it shows in their play," Tran said. "We've focused on building strength in the weight room, getting faster on the court, and toughness in the mental game, and I'm excited to see how that effort pays off to finish the fall strong."

Along with the team's physical growth, Tran highlighted the Rams' chemistry and coachability that she has seen in experimenting, especially with different doubles pairs. Sorcha Caves and Luana Avelar experienced successful runs in their doubles play, which Tran says comes from their ability to push each other and their drive to improve.Â

In the upcoming tournament, Tran looks forward to debuting even more new doubles pairings and closing the fall out with this group of girls.

"Every player brings something unique to the court in doubles, which gives us great flexibility and depth," Tran said.

The tournament will start on Friday with one round each of singles and doubles.
