Rams Cap Off Successful Weekend

Kimpson breaks school record while Lesnar dominates in New Mexico.
FORT COLLINS – Colorado State track and field capped off a successful weekend at the Colorado Invitational (Boulder) and New Mexico Team Open (Albuquerque) on Saturday.
Colorado Invitational Day One (Jan. 31)
Maria Kimpson stole the show on Friday at the Colorado Invitational as she took sole possession of the program record in the women's pole vault. Kimpson entered the day tied with former Ram Celyn Stermer (2019-23) at 13-feet-6.5 inches, but shattered that mark with a 4.20-meter/13-9.25.
Elsewhere in the field, Sam Mrky collected a second-straight win in the men's pole vault with a mark of 5.00m/16-4.75, while Elijah Scott won the men's high jump by jumping 1.91m/6-3.25.
Colorado Invitational Day Two (Feb. 1)
Colorado State saw two women finish top three in the mile including program-record-holder Anna Petr, who finished second with a time of 4:48.30. Freshmen Allison Pippert, making her debut in the mile for the Rams, finished third place with an impressive 4:53.52.
Sophomore Annie Macabobby finished sixth in the 800m with a time of 2:14.81, a personal best. Macabobby now finds herself 16th place all time in the women's indoor 800m. In the men's 800, Rubeun Holness finished first place with a personal best of 1:52.38. The freshman now sits in 16th place all time for Colorado State.
Oklahoma Baptist transfer Emmett Murphy finished with a personal best in the 400 with a time of 48.28. Murphy now sits in a tie with former Ram Justin Hazzard for 13th place in school history.
New Mexico Team Open Day Two (Feb. 1)
The 2023-24 Mountain West Female Athlete of the Year, Mya Lesnar, competed for the first time this season, picking up where she left off. Lesnar finished first place in the shot put with a mark of 18.81m/61-8.5, which immediately took its place as the top mark in the nation this season. Lesnar's throw is over eight inches above the next highest in the country.
Colorado State had strong finishes in both the men's 60m hurdles and shot put. Cole Nordman finished third place in the 60 hurdles, running a time of 7.73 seconds. Kyle Bigley finished fifth place and set a personal best in the shot put with a mark of 18.28m/59-11. Bigley remains fifth all time in Colorado state indoor track and field history in the event.
The men's triple jump saw a trio of Rams in the top 10 with Ismael Dembele (14.94m/49-0) and Jamison Taylor (14.89m/48-10) finishing fourth and fifth, respectively. Freshman Ndayiragije Shukurani (14.39m/47-2) also logged a top-10 finish in the event.
Kylee Kielian moved up to 11th all time in the women's triple jump with a mark of 11.89m/39-0. The Colorado Mesa transfer has competed for the Rams five times this indoor season and continues to move up the record book.

The Rams will take next weekend off as they prepare for the Don Kirby Elite (Albuquerque) and the Husky Classic (Seattle, Wash.), which will each be held Feb. 14-15.
