Colorado State Faces Final Tests Before Championship Season

Rams look to divide and conquer as Mountain West Indoor Championship looms.
FORT COLLINS- Colorado State track and field has reached the penultimate point of its indoor season with the Mountain West Indoor Championships right around the corner. The Rams face a brace of events in the Don Kirby Invite and Husky Classic, which will be the final opportunity to prepare before taking on the conference championship.Â

- Two of the world's top arms return to action at the Don Kirby Invite. Shot put superstars Mya Lesnar and Gabi Morris rank eighth and 32nd at the international level. At the collegiate level this season, Lesnar's top throw leads the nation while Morris' ranks 12th, both inside the top-16 cut line for the NCAA Championships.
- Another top collegiate performer this season, Cole Nordman also makes his way to the Don Kirby Invite. Nordman is 30th in the nation in the 60 meter hurdles while also ranking inside the top 75 in the 60 dash. Nordman has set program records in the 60 hurdles and 55 dash this season for Colorado State. Â
- At the Husky Classic, it will be the long-distance runners who are the stars of the show. Anna Petr has already made her mark on the indoor season by setting the all-time CSU record for the 3000Â with a time of 9:15.11. Freshman Allison Pippert has impressed in her first track and field season, finishing first place in the 3000Â at the Colorado Classic last month and an impressive mile time of 4:46.37 which ranks fourth among MW freshmen.Â
- Four current Rams live in the record book for the men's high jump, and all four will be making the trip to New Mexico this weekend. Timothy Johnson, Rhys Travis and Ndayiragije Shukurani have all set personal bests this season, with each ranking in MW's top five. Â
- Reuben Holness introduced himself to the record book at the CU Invitational with a first-place finish in the 800Â of 1:52.38. The sophomore is having a breakout season that now has himself at 16th all-time in the history of the Green and Gold.Â
