Rams force 15 turnovers in big road win.

RENO, Nev – Colorado State women's basketball put on a defensive clinic in a 61-45 victory over Nevada on Wednesday night in Reno.

CSU (21-8, 12-4 MW) held the Wolf Pack (11-19, 6-11 MW) scoreless across the final six minutes of the first half, clearing the path to a double-digit lead at halftime. A 12-0 run in the early stages of the third quarter saw the Rams go up by as much as 24 points, which gave Colorado State the handle it needed to improve to 7-2 on the road this season.

Kloe Froebe was the catalyst for CSU offensively, scoring a career-high 22 points on a perfect 7-for-7 shooting from the floor. Emma Ronsiek eclipsed double figures once again with 12 points and six rebounds, while Hannah Simental chipped in 10 points herself. In the process, Simental knocked down her 300th career 3-pointer, becoming one of just 14 active Division I players to reach that mark.

How It Happened
It was another slow start for Colorado State as it scored just four points in the opening five minutes of the game. Emma Ronsiek and Froebe did their jobs to change that as they each scored four points in a 14-4 run to close out the first quarter and take a 18-12 lead into the second.

The Ram defense, which has been on of the best in the Mountain West this season, was out in full force in the second half, limiting Nevada to just 2-for-17 shooting (11.8%) throughout the second quarter and giving up no points in the final 6:06. This gave way for Froebe and Co. to outscore the Wolf Pack 13-5 in the period, with the freshman guard scoring nine of her team's points. At the halfway point, CSU entered the locker room with a 31-17 lead.

Colorado State took full control in the third quarter, using a 12-0 run in which five Rams scored to jump out to a 43-19 lead. Nevada did not back down, however, as they strung together some stops on the defensive end and scored 11 of the final 16 points of the stanza, cutting it down to an 18-point lead entering the fourth.

The Rams refused to give up ground in the fourth quarter, answering nearly every Wolf Pack bucket to keep the home team at bay. Thanks to nine fourth-quarter points from Froebe, the Rams were able to cruise to the finish line and maintain their second-place position in the Mountain West standings.
