Both Ram squads in top three after Day 1 of MW Indoor T&F Championships.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The 2025 Mountain West Indoor Track & Field Championships got underway on Thursday morning, and after the first day of action both Colorado State squads sit in the top three of their respective standings.

Tereza Babicka was solid throughout the women's pentathlon, winning the long-jump with a mark of 5.87-meters/19-feet-3.25 to vault into second place entering the final event, the 800 meter run. Babicka delivered a strong performance with a time of 2:22.21, which gave her a career-best score of 3,896, but was just short of jumping into the gold-medal position. Her runner-up finish was the first podium of the meet for Colorado State and garnered eight points for the Ram women's team.

In the women's 4k distance medley relay, the CSU squad of Annie Macabobby, Grace Gordon, Brooklyn Ewert and Anna Petr was the third across the finish line, giving CSU six points. The Rams' total of 14 put them in a tie with Boise State for third place behind New Mexico (27) and Air Force (22)

The first points for the men's team came from Michael Mooney, who delivered a spectacular performance in the men's 5k. The Broomfield native became just the seventh Ram to clock a sub-14 minute time in the event, running a 13:59.31 to finish fifth and claim four points in a loaded field.

Colorado State was able to score more points in the men's 4k DMR as Reuben Holness, Carsen Bruns, Ethan Mann and Chris Henry finished fifth and grabbed four additional points. The eight total points have the men sitting in second place behind New Mexico (42) entering Friday.

The first portion of the men's heptathlon delivered promising results for the Rams as Elijah Scott (3161) and Mateo Munoz (3037) ended the day as No. 1 and 2, respectively. Friday's action begins with the conclusion of the heptathlon, first with the 60 hurdles at 10 a.m. followed by the pole vault.
